JOB DESCRIPTION

The welder reads blueprints, prepares and assembles parts, selects and sets welding equipment, and performs high-quality welds. The role includes inspecting weld integrity, correcting defects, finishing welds, following safety standards, maintaining a clean workspace, and supporting production through accurate assembly, planning, and related fabrication duties, and complying with occupational health requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Read and interpret welding blueprints or instructions
  • Check the dimensions and conformity of parts before assembly and welding work
  • Clean and polish parts to be welded if necessary
  • Plan the sequence of part assembly
  • Adjust, assemble, and secure structures using bolts, clamps, spot welding, or other methods
  • Select and set up welding equipment (gas)
  • Weld, brush, grind, and polish welding excesses
  • Inspect the quality and penetration of welds and make corrections if necessary
  • Apply occupational health and safety rules
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Perform any other related duties

REQUIREMENTS

  • Training or experience in MIG steel welding
  • Experience in an industrial environment (an asset)
  • Being able to weld in all positions
  • Comfortable wearing personal protective equipment
